  My mother, who is no longer with us, God rest her soul, woke one morning with no hearing in one ear. We called Dr. Wandzels office that same day for an appointment as he is the only ear doctor in the Howell area. When we called for the appointment we received a cold, insensitive, uncaring receptionist who insisted that my mothers loss of hearing was not an emergency and that the very soonest she could be seen was in 10 days. We kept the appointment in 10 days when my mother was tested by an extremely caring and competent audiologist named Sue. She proceeded to tell us that my mothers loss of hearing was an emergency and she should have been seen that same day of the hearing loss. As a result in the delay in appointment and careless lack of concern for the patient, my mothers hearing loss was permanent and could have been prevented with immediate attention. On our 2nd visit to the office, we were told that Sue no longer worked at the office. We suspected that Sue was fired for telling us the truth. Dr. Wandzels attitude toward my mothers condition over several visits was callouse and indifferent. We felt emotionally raped and that the doctor could care less for his patients. I would not recommend Dr. Wandzel. Find another doctor. The extra drive will be worth it.
